Web sites
I've been helping a lot of people at the Academy set up Web sites lately. I really love being able to help them realize their vision, and it's such an easy and effective way to share information.
A recent conversation I had with Carlo got me thinking about what to do after graduation. I wonder if Cyber Defenders need Web sites designed, too?

Technotrash
I'm really looking forward to the technotrash fundraiser this weekend. I really enjoyed organizing this event with Trey. I feel like we are finally getting a chance to share with everyone how good it feels to help the environment.
I've spent a lot of time making sure all the details are in place. Erika even helped me put together a Web site for the event with lots of useful recycling information, so we don't waste paper printing out handouts!

Working with Jax
We're really making progress on the cyber bullying forum. I've been working on the user interface with Jax and she's been working with Betty to prepare all of the terms of use and privacy policy. We're going to be ready for an alpha test very soon.
I never thought I'd see this side of Jax. She's a completely different person. I can't imagine what could have happened to turn such a sweet kid into a cyber bully. She seems much happier, too. Commander Omni gave her and Sparky permission to come hang out with the cadets this Friday. We're having a board game night in the Academy Lounge!

Yes, ferrets
I was talking to Captain Wits about the founding of the Academy. Apparently, he thought bees would make good cyber defenders, but he was having trouble training them to use the keyboard. Captain Marbles encouraged him to recruit people instead. Now he thinks that messenger ferrets will replace email one day.
Don't laugh, I think he's onto something...

Ferrets?
Messenger ferrets? What on earth are you talking about, Dana? As your bloggy buddy, I command you to explain...

Attack!
I was in such a panic when our Internet went down on Wednesday! Alan was trapped in cyberspace and I almost cried I was so upset. I couldn't check my email or log in to the Academy chat server to see if he was all right. I couldn't post to the blog about it to let my family know. Even my PAL couldn't get any access to cyberspace. I was really about to lose my cool when Alexi snapped me out of it.
The silly thing is, I was at the Academy when it happened and I was surrounded by people, but I felt so detached and alone! Since most of us were in the same building, we could just talk to each other in person when it happened. But what if we weren't in the same place, like with Alan? How would we get in contact with each other then? How would I have told my parents if the Internet had never come back and the phones weren't working?
I hate feeling so dependent on the Internet for communication. There has to be a better way. Maybe there's something to Captain Wits' messenger ferrets after all?

During the "Attack"
Jax and I were at the Clubhouse when the attack happened. Betty had us totally convinced it was real!
We still managed to stay calm, even after we discovered the link to the Academy was down. Jax and I locked down the Clubhouse perimeter and then hunkered down and stayed put. We could see that the firewall was still up, so we weren't too worried.
I heard that Dana didn't handle it too well back at the Academy though, especially since Alan was in cyberspace and she couldn't get a hold of him. She doesn't want to talk about it.
