Another Attack?
Maybe it’s just my imagination, but I think…I think there was almost another attack just now. I was up late last night working on a project for Maya when I heard a lot of noise coming from the detention center. I rushed down as fast as I could, but when I got there everything seemed completely normal. Well, almost completely normal. Daisy was crouched down to the floor, her back to the old computer where we trapped the Bad Hatter . I looked around, but I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
I know the dog is weird and growls at pretty much anything, but there was something different about her this time. I don’t know why, but I think Daisy might’ve saved the day. I hate to do it, but I’m going to have to wake up Officer Ward and Commander Omni . It might end up being nothing, but I have to follow protocol.

Where is Nils?
It’s so lonely here without all the other cadets. I’m really glad Alexi and Yoko are here, though. They’ve been really fun to hang out with. We even got to hang out with Carlo in a non teacher/student way. It was almost like old times.
I’ve had a lot of time to think lately, what with all the boredom I’ve been feeling. I wonder, where is Ex-Commander Nils? I hope he really is becoming a good guy again. I also hope, wherever he is, that he’s having a good holiday. If you’re reading this, don’t go back to being evil! It’s really not worth it in the end.

Snow
I love the snow. Well, I love it when it’s falling and for the first day it’s around. After that…not so much. Still, it really is beautiful.
Alan and I went sledding today. Well, we tried to go sledding, anyway. There aren’t many good hills on campus, so we had to run and jump on the sled to get anywhere. It was still fun spending the day outside.
Have you ever noticed how quiet everything gets when it snows? It’s like the world is holding its breath. As much as I love the warmer months, I have to give winter credit. There’s a certain calm this time of year you just don’t find in any other season.

Cold!
Who turned out the sun? It’s so cold and dark this time of year! I feel like I blink and the whole day has gone by. Blah. Everything is cold and quiet. The world outside my window looks like an old black and white photograph. And worse of all, the day is just going to get shorter and shorter until December 21st!
I need a sunlamp or something. I’m feeling pretty bummed about this whole no-such-thing-as-the-sun thing going on. Maybe I’ll just get some people to go outside with me once in a while. Getting vitamin D from the sun is a great way to fight off the winter blahs. I wonder if Carlo would like to go for a jog.

Thanksgiving!
Thanks to Jax taking care of the garden while I was away, we’re going to have a great Thanksgiving feast this year! There are even enough pumpkins left over to make a ton of great pies for dessert.
I think this year I’ll donate a lot of the food I make to local soup kitchens. It’s easy to forget that not everyone gets to have a big dinner with people they care about this time of year. Maybe I can get a few other cadets or some of the faculty to help out. It feels great to give!

FINALLY!
It took all month, but my costume is finally finished! I decided to use my artistic skills to paint a gigantic self portrait but leave the face entirely blank. This way, I can cut a hole in the canvas and put my face through it like a living picture!
I’m really proud of the way my costume turned out. It took a lot of work, but it was worth it. I know I’m not the only person who thinks Halloween is worth the trouble. I mean, just look at what some of the faculty members are doing! I don’t know how they did it, but Commander Omni is dressing up as a server and Betty, Maya, and Keen as computers tethered to her by network cables. That’s right, they’re dressing up as a network for Halloween! I hope they’ve got a good firewall!

The Compromise
I’ll admit it; I was so focused on National Cybersecurity Awareness Month that I didn’t come up with any costume ideas for Halloween. Thankfully, Alan picked up my slack and had a few fabulous ideas. He knew I would want our costumes to match, so he had a short list of suggestions that would make us both happy. After ruling out some of the weirder costumes (sorry, Alan, but there’s no way I’m going to be the backside of a centaur costume), we reached an agreement. We decided to go with a mummy and an archaeologist!
Now we’re both happy! Alan gets to be a scary ancient mummy and I get to be the fearless explorer that discovers him! I just hope I don’t get cursed like those Egyptologists that discovered King Tut…
